Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his first trophy for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.
The Russian, a ex- world number one, has experienced a difficult year, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the American major.
His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.
Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.
This represents his initial championship since the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface from that period of that year.
Victory also signifies he has secured 21 victories at twenty-one distinct events.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my both daughters together, so to get a championship is really nice," commented tennis professional Medvedev.
"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his past six championship matches, comprising in Halle earlier this year.
His retrieving play style and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had led observers to question if his ability to compete at the highest level was over.
But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to approach the net and compete aggressively, supported by an better serve.
The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The competitors traded service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to force a third set.
He defended four early-game break points in a close third set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to close out the victory.
Appropriately, the winner clinched the win with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
