Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, fiends, and dark forces growing in power within the urban setting.
Note: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to begin their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to go next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose death initiated the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.
Casimir then settled his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each member has a individual motive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, desires revenge.
- The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty location.
- The warrior and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the party access locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that control the setting for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This leaves them no alternative but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
According to episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Explorers and Planners parties.
Audiences can anticipate discovering which adventurers will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
